The Teatre Principal is now considered a major Menorca landmark. It was opened to the public almost 200 years ago and is in fact the very first opera house of Spain. Teatre Principal was often selected by Spanish opera companies to premiere their Spanish tours. At present, this landmark edifice is more frequently used as a cinema, and it also host concerts and other cultural events from time to time.
